Reforest Frankfort
Reforest Frankfort will take place 8 a.m.-noon at the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives located at 300 Coffee Tree Road. The area to be reforested is along the treeline behind the Vietnam Veteran Memorial. Public parking will be available at the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives parking lot and along Coffee Tree Road. A free community-wide event, this year marks the 15th installment of Reforest Frankfort and will feature tree giveaways, T-shirts, tree planting, music, food and environmental education exhibitors and activities. In addition to planting trees at the memorial, participants will also be given trees to take home.

Children’s Business Fair
The Acton Children’s Business Fair will noon-3 p.m. April 18 at the Kentucky State University Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration Farm, 1525 Mills Lane, Frankfort. The Acton Children’s Business Fair is the largest entrepreneurship event for children in North America. The one-day marketplace allows young entrepreneurs to launch and run their own businesses — designing products, creating marketing plans, handling sales and gaining real-world experience. The fair encourages creativity, problem-solving, confidence and leadership, empowering the next generation to discover their talents and “think like entrepreneurs.” Families, educators, community leaders and children ages 6 to 18 will come together to share their ideas with the world. Bourbon & Browns
Bourbon & Browns will take place from 4:30-11 p.m. at Liberty Hall Historic Site, 202 Wilkinson St. The event is an evening filled with fun, laughter, food and of course, bourbon. The evening will include the ever-popular Distillers’ Showcase, silent auction, bourbon pool and a dinner of fine Kentucky cuisine — all within the famed Liberty Hall gardens. And for the first time ever, all tickets also include exclusive access to the Bourbon & Browns After Party with more music in the garden after the scheduled evening program. Hot Brown Trail
The 2026 Hot Brown Trail Week will be April 25-May 2 in downtown Frankfort. The week leading up to Derby, local restaurants will be putting their own creative spin on Kentucky’s most iconic dish — the hot brown. From the classic flavors you crave to bold, unexpected twists, this is your chance to taste your way through Frankfort’s most indulgent, melty masterpieces. Plant Market
The Capital Area Extension Master Gardeners will host a Plant Market from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Lakeview Park. There will be quality plants offered at reasonable prices grown by the Capital Area master gardeners. Outside vendors include Bluebird Hill Farm, Ironweed Nursery, the Capital City Beekeepers, Cattlemen’s Association and more. The event will take place rain or shine.

Downtown Derby Day Celebration
The Downtown Derby Day Celebration will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in downtown Frankfort. Experience the excitement as the Derby Train rolls through Downtown Frankfort on its way to Churchill Downs. Enjoy the sounds of Mash Grass, filling the streets with Derby spirit! Savor the best morning bites from downtown’s amazing restaurants. Sip on handcrafted Derby drinks that capture the excitement of the season. Spring Tea Party
The Simon House of Kentucky will host its second annual Spring Tea Party in partnership with The Evergreen: Southern Kitchen & Gathering Place at 5 p.m. at The Evergreen. The event is held to coincide with Mother’s Day, but anyone can bring a special guest with them whether it is their mother, grandmother, mother-like-figure or friend. The event will feature a three-course tea party spread, professional photography, special goodies and exciting raffles. Attendees will also have the opportunity to try their hand at faux flower arranging with the ability to shop beautiful flowers and accessories on-site while sipping on wine and enjoying delicious tea party food. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own faux flowers to the event as well. Proceeds benefit Simon House, which is a nonprofit agency that provides emergency shelter to homeless women who are pregnant, homeless families with children and other homeless adults. In collaboration with other agencies, it also provides assistive social services and referrals through its community programs and case management services to low-income families to prevent them from experiencing the trauma of homelessness. Poetry & Music in the Garden
Poetry & Music in the Garden, as part of Frankfort Heritage Week, will take places at 6:30 p.m. in the garden at Liberty Hall Historic Site, 202 Wilkinson St. A reading of Margaretta Mason Brown’s poems, who was the matriarch of one of Kentucky’s founding families and a prolific writer, will take place. There will also be original poems read by Samantha Ratcliffe and former Kentucky Poet Laureate Richard Taylor, as well as songs performed by Samantha’s musical persona, Fields May. The event is sponsored by the City of Frankfort.
