Dr. Shawn Chandler, at LiveWell Chiropractic and Healthy Living, has an open door policy at his family-friendly office that offers chiropractic, physical rehab and massage therapy.
Chandler’s office allows patients to walk in, with no appointment, and be seen. They provide short term plans to resolve patients’ concerns. Most patients see improvement within three to ten visits. After seeing improvements, they can “pop in” whenever they like. LiveWell sees patients of all ages, from babies to elderly people.
“We have a very different perspective,” Chandler said. “We don’t set people up on these strenuous long care plans. We have a very open door policy. People can just walk into the office without an appointment.”
As Chandler walked outside to help a patient out of the car, Office Manager Samantha Bruce said Chandler really has a heart for his patients and cares about each of them.
Dr. Chandler began practicing as a chiropractor in Frankfort in 2006. By 2010, the office had moved to its current location at 975 River Bend Road.
At LiveWell, Dr. Chandler and the therapists treat multiple ailments: neck and back pain, whiplash, headaches, Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ), tendinitis, carpel tunnel, plantar fasciitis, pregnancy pain and more.
The most common therapeutic procedure performed is manipulation, or chiropractic adjustment. The procedure can be performed on the spine or the extremities. The purpose is to restore joint mobility and range of motion to the joint. Loss of joint motion is typically a result of a tissue injury caused by a single traumatic event or repetitive stresses. Once the tissue is injured, physical and chemical changes can cause inflammation, pain and diminished function. Adjusting is done to restore mobility, so surrounding tissues can heal.
LiveWell also has seven massage therapists in the office. Massage therapy is manually manipulating the muscular structure and soft body tissues in the body. In addition to soothing sore muscles, reducing fibrotic adhesion, restoring injured muscles and improving blood flow, massage therapy is a natural stress reliever for many people.
In addition to chiropractic and massage therapy, LiveWell does physical rehab, which involves the management of disorders that alter a patient’s movement and performance abilities. Treatment options include therapeutic exercise, movement and activity modification, braces, etc.
Patients who suffer from a variety of acute and chronic conditions can undergo a treatment called Cold Laser Therapy, or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT). Cold Laser Therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue and accelerate the healing process.
At Chandler’s office the goal is to get patients feeling better as quick as they can.
“If they feel better after one visit, that’s great,” Chandler said.
