It’s October in Liberty Hall, the guests have gathered for dinner, and there’s been a murder! Join the Bluegrass Mystery Theatre for a one-night-only performance of “A Treat To Die For” inside historic Liberty Hall at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22. Capital City Chorale hosts practices
The Capital City Chorale will practice 6-30-8 p.m. Tuesday evenings through December in the choir room at First United Methodist Church, 211 Washington St. Capital City Chorale is a community choir for residents of Franklin and surrounding counties. The chorale is a non-audition group that accepts any and all who enjoy singing choral music. The choir has a fall and spring semester with performances throughout the year. The fall semester typically runs September-December. The spring semester runs February-May. A Fall Family Dance will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Thorn Hill Education Center, 700 Leslie Ave. All ages are welcome. Participation requires a willingness to listen and follow directions. Non-participants are requested to visit quietly. The cost is $5 per dancer or $25 per family.

The Fabulous Thunderbirds
The Fabulous Thunderbirds will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Theatre, 308 St. Clair St. Kim Wilson, the legendary harmonica virtuoso and frontman of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, is preparing for what may be his most personally meaningful tour yet. The upcoming “A Tribute to Chicago Blues” tour represents a homecoming of sorts for Wilson, who cut his teeth playing alongside the very architects of the Chicago blues sound during the genre’s golden era. The “Tribute to Chicago Blues” tour will feature a mix of classic chestnuts and deeper cuts from the Chicago blues catalog.

Old Fashioned Christmas Kick-Off in Midway
An Old Fashioned Christmas Kick-Off in Midway will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in downtown Midway. The Midway Business Association will kick off the holiday season with one of Midway’s most beloved traditions — the Old Fashioned Christmas Kick-Off. The festive, family-friendly event marks the official start of Old Fashioned Christmas in Midway, welcoming the season with classic small-town charm, holiday cheer and a focus on shopping local. Highlights include holiday shopping throughout downtown; local boutiques, galleries, antiques and specialty shops; lunch and treats from Midway restaurants.

Candlelight Weekend
Candlelight Weekend will take place Nov. 12-14. Events are planned for 5-8 p.m. Nov. 12; 5-9 p.m. Nov. 13, and 3-8 p.m. Nov. 14. Candlelight Weekend is presented by Commonwealth Credit Union and serves as kick-off for the holiday season. Event highlights include the lighting of the Christmas Tree Ceremony; Horse Carriage Rides for all ages sponsored by Harrod Brothers Funeral Home; a petting zoo; Santa Claus and holiday characters for photo ops; special holiday activities and exclusive holiday shopping from downtown businesses; holiday music performances to fill the air with festive tunes; delicious food and drinks to warm you up; window decorating contest sponsored by AE Electrical Solutions; holiday tours at local museums and historical sites; “Nutcracker” dance performance on St. Clair Street sponsored by Kentucky Dance Academy; and a Pajama Sip and Shop Cocktail Stroll where you can shop with your favorite holiday drink in hand while wearing your coziest pjs! The stroll is sponsored by Commonwealth Credit Union.

The Kings of Queen — A Queen Tribute
The Kings of Queen — A Queen Tribute will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Theatre, 308 St. Clair St. The Kings of Queen are the hottest Queen tribute in the country, if not the world. Given that he’s been dubbed as the reincarnated Freddie Mercury, frontman Emo Alaeddin is quite the spectacle. Although there may be others, no other Queen tribute comes close to The Kings of Queen. Equally important to sounding like Queen, the Alaeddin has a striking resemblance to Freddie Mercury.

Children’s Holiday Store
The Franklin County Homemakers Association, along with all of its affiliate members, will welcome children ages 4 to 12 to shop at the Children’s Holiday Store from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 21 at the Franklin County Extension Office located at 101 Lakeview Ct. Local high school and college students fill the role of elves and assist children with shopping. They help them budget their money and make sure they get a gift for each person on their list. Every item for sale has a hand-crafted spin on it thanks to the Homemakers of Franklin County. Items are available to suit all wallets, and nothing costs more than $5.
