Elvis’ Last Bite. Caramel Delight Cheesecake. Fruity Pebbles Cookies. Here, it is Halloween every day, tasty treats are flying off the shelves, and the cauldron is always filled with candy for everyday trick-or-treaters. Located at the corner of St. Clair and West Main streets in downtown Frankfort, the Wicked Whisk Cake Co., a new bake shop with a whimsical twist, is baking up some spookily good treats. Co-owner, Heather Cannon’s love for Halloween and cupcakes mixed with co-owner Charlie VanHoose’s delectable cookie creations have combined to create the perfect recipe to produce Wicked Whisk Cake Co.
Setting the stage for this picturesque Halloween meets Beetlejuice, meets Hocus Pocus-themed bakery, is Heather’s fond love of all things Halloween. Born in early October, Heather jokes about being born too early and truly believes she should have been born on Halloween. She loves the spooky holiday so much that her wedding was Halloween-themed, her living room at home is decked out in similar décor, with most of the bakery’s extensive Halloween décor originating from Heather’s own stash. Her forever love for the holiday, dressing up in costumes, decorations and delicious treats encompasses the whole of Wicked Whisk Cake Co.

When you reach the Black storefront highlighted with neon green accents, you will know you have reached the right place. Look for their signature spooky face upside down whisk logo and enter their enchanted world. Black and white striped walls, jack o’ lanterns, spider’s webs, and wall-to-wall Halloween-themed décor pull you into their wickedly, whimsical world.
Both Heather and Charlie always had a knack for baking, and after being assigned to cake decorating while she worked at Walmart, Heather realized she was a naturally talented baker. Her creative mind laid the foundation she needed to hone her skills at cake decorating, and as she grew in her craft, it ignited her passion for owning her own bakery.
While Heather is versed in her unique cupcake creations and skillfully crafted cakes, Charlie’s primary indulgence centers around her delicious cookies. Originally, the owner of her own at-home bakery, Charlie, was at first thought, a little hesitant to leave her job to fulfill her passion of owning her own bakery. A self-proclaimed cookie lover, Charlie built her passion, her skills, and created her own cookie portfolio. Cookies are one of Charlie’s favorite desserts, so she took time researching, experimenting and creating her own special formula to create optimal cookie confections.
What started out as a home baking business, quickly manifested into a dream come true. It was Heather’s husband, Bobby, who brought to fruition, Wicked Whisk Cake Co. Heather came home one day from her job at Walmart, and Bobby informed her that he started her bakery business for her. She was pleasantly surprised, and in a year, Wicked Whisk Cake Co. introduced the Frankfort community to its tasty creations.
In November, the space that now houses, Wicked Whisk, came up for rent, and Bobby’s friend Bradley’s wife, Charlie, was toying with the idea of opening a bakery too, so it only seemed fitting that they make a match. Heather could not bake a cookie to save her life, but Charlie was a cookie connoisseur, and her cookie creations sealed the deal. Just like that, Heather and Charlie became the dynamic duo behind the Wicked Whisk Bake Co.

Halloween. Cupcakes. Cookies. Wicked Whisk Cake Co. — it started with two bakers who had a passion for sharing their delicious creations with the community. With two women, supported by their husbands, they opened their doors. Their success is rooted in the support of local patrons and neighboring businesses. They have grown from a meager staff of four (them and their husbands), to a staff of 10, to keep up with the community’s demand for their sweet confections.
Here, in the city’s center, is a truly magical bake shop with some amazingly talented bakers, who prepare delicious confections for all to indulge. Also, if you happen to stop in, do not forget to say hello to a certain neon green boney local named Eugene.
