The Great Race to pass through downtown Frankfort
The Great Race will take place from 3-9 p.m. June 25 in downtown Frankfort. The Hemmings Motor News Great Race, presented by Coker Tire, is a nine-day classic car rally that spans more than 2,300 miles and features 120 of the world’s finest antique automobiles. The event features 17 city stops, including a hosted dinner stop in Frankfort. The annual event features a different route each year, offering a rare opportunity for residents and surrounding communities to see the spectacular cars and meet the drivers from all over the world. Each stop on the Great Race is free to the public and spectators will be able to visit with the participants and to look at the cars for several hours.

Zoe Howard and Bek and the Starlight Revue will perform at 6:30 p.m. June 27 during the Downtown Summer Concert Series on Broadway Street. The concert series is presented by WesBanco.

Frankfort Cemetery’s Artists and Writers
Explore Kentucky’s literary and artistic heritage through a guided tour of historic Frankfort Cemetery from 10-11:30 a.m. June 28. The tour will begin at Daniel Boone’s Grave at the Frankfort Cemetery, 215 E. Main St. From poets like Theodore O’Hara and Robert Burns Wilson to artists such as Paul Sawyier and Joel Tanner Hart, guides will discuss the lives and legacies of those who have shaped Kentucky’s cultural landscape. After the tour, visit the Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) Research Library to view special archival selections related to the figures. The cost is $10 for KHS members; $15 for non-members (includes general admission to the Kentucky History Center and museums). Independence Day Picnic
Kick off your 4th of July celebrations at Liberty Hall Historic Site! Join the community from noon-3 p.m. for a picnic in the gardens with lawn games, live music and fun for the whole family. Games will be provided by Liberty Hall, but guests should bring their own seating. Music will be performed by The Swells and sponsored by the City of Frankfort. Liberty Hall Historic Site is located at 202 Wilkinson St.

SoundScape! Music & Art Festival will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 12 at Josephine Sculpture Park, 3355 Lawrenceburg Road. Sway with the sculptures to live music by Appalatin. Explore new artworks by Artist-in-Residence Peyton Scott Russell, SPRAYFiNGER workshop participants and Linda Bruckheimer. Create art with local artists and organizations.
