Family Dental Center is a “one-stop shop” for dental care, said Dr. Dwight Patrick Peters.
The practice has been part of the Frankfort community since 1981. They were originally located on U.S. 127 and moved to their current location at 1006 Leawood Drive in 2001.
“We basically do everything,” Peters explained. “We do everything from general dental needs to family dental needs, all the way to implant dentistry, advanced bone grafting, IV sedation, wisdom teeth extractions and gum therapy.”
He said the mission for Family Dental Center practice is to be of service to the community they love being a part of.
The practice has the latest technology, Peters said, including an in-office CT scanner. The scanner allows them to do things like scan for crowns instead of taking impressions, which they only do approximately 20 percent of the time.
“We don’t want to be the dentist from 20 years ago,” Peters explained. “We want to be the dentists of 2019.”
The practice accepts most insurance, but doesn’t accept state assistance insurance like Medicaid. Instead, they offer a dental savings plan.
The plan’s annual membership rates are $270 for an individual, $486 for a couple living at the same address, $653 for up to a family of four with children under the age of 26 living at home and $164 for each additional individual.
The plan covers two dental cleanings per year, x-rays, two fluoride treatments and other services. It also includes discounts of varying percentages on additional cleanings, general dentistry procedures including crowns, bridges, implants and root canals.

Family Dental Center has a team made up of two other associates and an orthodontist at the Frankfort location. The entire team is made up of 20 people, Peters said. The practice also has a second location in Louisville with a team of nine people, with two doctors. The orthodontist works at the second location as well.
“Who likes to travel east of Egypt to get their dentistry done?” Peters said. “Nobody likes to travel back and forth to get their medical needs done. For the most part, we do most everything in dentistry.”
