POURter’s will host a vendor fair beginning at 11 a.m. at POURter’s located at 601 Taylor Ave. There will also be food, live music and the UK vs. Murray State football game.

Carb-Load for a Cause at Sig Luscher Brewery

Walk Bike Frankfort will host Carb-Load for a Cause at 6:30 p.m. at Sig Luscher Brewery, 221 Mero St. The event will include a spaghetti dinner and a 0.5K fun run/walk. There will also be a silent auction with proceeds benefiting The Kings Center. Tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for kids. Children’s Holiday Store

The Franklin County Homemakers Association will host its Children’s Holiday Store from 9 a.m-noon at the Franklin County Extension Office. The event is for children ages 4-12. Children will shop privately with an elf to purchase handcrafted items within their budget. Items cost between 25 cents and $5. Purchases must be made in cash. Small bills ($1, $5 and $10 bills) are recommended. The extension office is located at 101 Lakeview Court. For more information, call 502-695-9035.

BTG to present ‘A Good Old-Fashioned Big Family Christmas’

The Bluegrass Theatre Guild will present “A Good Old-Fashioned Big Family Christmas” at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Theatre, 308 St. Clair St. In “A Good Old-Fashioned Big Family Christmas,” Hayden Stewart’s wife, Judith, and her sisters, Carla and Beth, are worried about their parents. “They argue all the time,” Judith says. When she mentions this to Hayden, he casually suggests maybe the women could spend some time with Jack and Arlene, their parents, and squelch any such arguments. Additional shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 and 7.

Frankfort Christmas Parade

The Frankfort Christmas Parade will take place at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 in downtown Frankfort. The theme for the parade is “A Kentucky Christmas.” Sponsors for the parade are POP! 93.5FM, FROGGY 101.7-104.9, Passport Radio and Commonwealth Credit Union.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band at the Grand

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Theatre, 308 St. Clair St. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band is a New Orleans jazz band founded in New Orleans by tuba player Allan Jaffe in the early 1960s. The band derives its name from Preservation Hall in the French Quarter. In 2005, the Hall’s doors were closed for a period of time due to Hurricane Katrina, but the band continued to tour.

Christmas Market

Capital City Activity Center will host a Christmas Market from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The event includes gifts, food and visits with Santa. Organizers ask that attendees consider donating a non perishable food item in efforts to restock the Helping Hands Food Pantry. The center is located at 202 Medical Heights Drive.

Frankfort Heritage Lecture Series

The Frankfort Heritage Lecture Series presentation “The ‘Shape’ of Frankfort: Shifting Courses of the Ancient Kentucky River and Tributary Streams” will take place at 1 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Paul Sawyier Public Library, 319 Wapping St. The rivers and streams around Frankfort have not always flowed in their present courses. This presentation will use new digital resources to examine the landscape evidence for the ancient shifts and changes in the local stream valleys that have sculpted the Frankfort landscape.

‘White Christmas’ to show at the Grand

TCM’s “White Christmas” will be shown at the Grand Theatre at 7 p.m. on Dec. 16. Celebrating its 70th Anniversary, in “White Christmas” two talented song and dance men (Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye) team up after the war to become one of the hottest acts in show business. One winter, they join forces with a sister act (Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen) and trek to Vermont for a white Christmas. The result is stuff dreams are made of. The movie is rated PG-13.

Dec. 27

JD Shelburne to perform at the Grand

JD Shelburne will perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Grand Theatre, 308 St. Clair St. The Kentucky native’s show will be acoustic. Shelburne’s last performance in Frankfort in the summer of 2023 brought a record-breaking crowd.
