Reception for Cull Collection Exhibit
Jane Chancellor Moore Gallery’s first event of its 20th anniversary year of the gallery welcomes local art collectors and patrons Bill and Marie Cull, who have generously shared with visitors a selection of works from their collection, originally purchased for the Capital Plaza Hotel. The reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the gallery located inside Expree Credit Union, 100 Moore Drive. Bill will be on hand to talk about the original juried hotel purchase exhibition, his subsequent acquisition of the works, and the individual artists. Don’t miss this very rare opportunity to see and hear about this important collection of Kentucky artists.

Frankfort Ice Bowl
The Frankfort Disc Golf Association will host Frankfort Ice Bowl from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at East Frankfort Park. This is a charity event for the benefit of the ACCESS Soup Kitchen and Men’s Shelter in downtown Frankfort. Organizers expect to exceed last year’s cash donation and collect more than 250 pounds of canned goods and other non-perishables food items. The match is a 24-hole flex start with day of sign-up. Meet in the upper pavilion near Pad “A” and get signed up anytime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Groups of 3-4 (max) will tee off once registered and a scorecard has been created in UDisc. Price of entry is as follows: $20 with no canned goods; $15 with 5 canned goods; $10 with 10 canned goods; $5 for five mulligans per round. First round mulligans do not rollover to optional second rounds, though you may buy five more. There will be an optional $2 ace pool. Payout is 50% of the entry fees (Cash, PayPal and Venmo) will go to the top 1 out of every five players in each division. Winners will be notified and paid in either cash or digitally. You may also donate your winnings to the charity. Bring your family and friends. All are welcome.

The FrankfortCon Winter 2024 show will take place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Capital Plaza Hotel, 405 Wilkinson Blvd. The event offers fun for the whole family. Free admission for kids. Hike at West Sixth Farm with Red
Oaks Forest School
Hike at West Sixth Farm with Red Oaks Forest School from 1-4 p.m. at the farm located at 4495 Shadrick Ferry Road. The hike will be a child-led walk in nature, easy and length inspired by the kids. Yappy Hour
L.I.F.E. House for Animals will host Yappy Hour from 5-6:30 p.m. at the shelter located at 14 Fido Court. Shelter workers want you to come love on their animals. There will be dog and cat adoption volunteer specialists on hand to show you around the shelter and introduce you to any animals you might like to meet.

Mardi Gras Family Dance
Capital City Historical Dancers and Musicians will host Mardi Gras Family Dance from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Thorn Hill Education Center, 700 Leslie Ave. Celebrate Mardi Gras a few days early this year with the group. There will be King Cake and drinks. Please bring a sweet or savory snack to share. Masks are not required but are always fun. As usual, the bulk of the dances will be for the preteen and up crowd with a few that are appropriate for any age. The cost is $5 per dancer or $20 for a family of four or more dancers.

Alfreda Sings Aretha
Alfreda Sings Aretha will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Theatre, 308 St. Clair St. Alfreda Sings Aretha combines Alfreda’s soaring vocals with three female backup singers, a four-piece rhythm section and three-piece horn section, performing Aretha’s biggest hits. The show is sponsored by Christopher M. Hill and Associates, PSC.
