Scholarship Chili and Silent Auction fundraiser
The Franklin County Democratic Woman’s Club will host a Chili Cook-off and Silent Auction from 5-7 p.m. at The Foundry on Broadway, 317 W. Broadway St. Funds raised will help support the club’s $2,000 scholarship for high school seniors attending a Kentucky university. Contact the club if you’d like to volunteer or supply silent auction items.

Gangstagrass at the Grand
Gangstagrass will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Theatre, 308 St. Clair St. Gangstagrass is an American bluegrass and hip hop group, most known for the theme song of the FX television show “Justified.” The group is founded and led by Brooklyn producer Rench, and combines authentic bluegrass and rap into a new genre.

Art by Marjorie Duncan Doneghy Willis on exhibit
A reception for local artist Marjorie Duncan Doneghy Willis’ exhibit will be noon-2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 211 Washington St. Willis’ main technique is pour painting, where she pours the paint onto canvas and pushes it around.

The Fast & The Furriest 5K
The Fast & The Furriest 5K will take place at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Park, 169 Park Ave. Proceeds from the race will benefit L.I.F.E. House for Animals. Walkers and runners of all abilities are invited. The race fee is $30. Register at https://tinyurl.com/3ecnbu8j. In order to receive a long-sleeved performance shirt, pre-registration is highly encouraged. Same day registration is available, but there is no T-shirt guarantee for those who register day of. The race will feature a scenic route on paved trail surfaces at Lakeview Park; overall and age group awards (5-year age divisions); free race photos courtesy of Ruby Cline-Eaton; post-race snacks and hot chocolate; social teams to expand your race experience (prize for the largest team); convenient prerace packet pickup and race day packet pickup; a 5K run/walk; free kid’s ¼ mile “Furry Friend Dash” and a virtual option.

Children’s Business Fair
Children’s Business Fair — Frankfort will take place from noon-3 p.m. on March 1 at the Kentucky State University Research Farm, 1525 Mills Lane. Do you believe that each child has what it takes to change the world in a profound way? Children’s Business Fair — Frankfort believes that children, when allowed to unleash their creativity, can do just that: change the world. Sam Bush to perform at the Grand
Sam Bush will perform at 7:30 p.m. on March 7 at the Grand Theatre, 308 St. Clair St. Bush is an American mandolinist who is considered an originator of progressive bluegrass music. In 2020, he was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame as a member of New Grass Revival. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame a second time in 2023 as a solo artist.

March Madness Burger Week
March Madness Burger Week will last March 16-23. Indulge in the best burger creations Downtown Frankfort has to offer. Participating restaurants will be serving up special and delicious burger options for $7 that will satisfy every craving. From classic favorites to unique twists, it’s a weeklong celebration of burger bliss. Note: Once you get your passports stamped by at least two participating restaurants, you can drop your passports off by March 26th at any Whitaker Bank Frankfort location to be entered in to drawings for gift cards. You can pick up passports at any Whitaker Bank Frankfort location or download and print one yourself at www.downtownfrankfort.com/burger-week/. Participating restaurants will also have limited passports on hand.

Frankfort Mac & Cheese Festival
The Frankfort Mac & Cheese Festival will take place at 11 a.m. on March 22 at the Kentucky State University Research Farm, 1525 Mills Lane. There will be two sessions. The first session, “A Gouda Time for the Whole Family” (for all ages), will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The whole family will be able to fill up on mac and cheese from local chefs and restaurants. There will also be games and activities for all ages. The second session, “Aged to Perfection” (for 21 and older), will take place from 3-6 p.m. Attendees will indulge in a wide variety of mac and cheese creations paired with craft beer, wine and other adult beverages. Allman Brothers Tribute — End of the Line at the Grand
The show, Allman Brothers Tribute — End of the Line, will take place at 7:30 p.m. March 28 at the Grand Theatre, 302 St. Clair St. End Of The Line is the premiere Allman Brothers tribute band. Having carved up the southeast with sold out shows, End Of The Line is making a name for themselves nationally with a sound as classic and heavy as the original Allman brothers themselves.

Kids shelter work day
L.I.F.E. House for Animals will host a kids shelter work day from 10 a.m.-noon on March 20. The free education and hands-on volunteering event is for kids 10 and up. Kids will get to try their hand at working a dog or cat shift, learn what volunteers do at a shelter and learn about responsible pet ownership. No registration is required. A parent/guardian must be present the entire time. The event is also hosted by Paul Sawyier Public Library.
